How to Play Sushi Bar and Win Big

Sushi lovers, rejoice! Sushi Bar is a fun and easy to learn card game for two to four players. The goal of the game is to collect as many sushi sets (combinations of three pieces of sushi) as possible. The player who collects the most sets wins the game.

Setup

To set up the game, shuffle the deck of cards and deal eight cards to each player. Place the remaining cards in the middle of the table, face down. This is The Deck.

The player who receives the highest card in their hand starts the game. Play passes clockwise around the table.

On your turn, you must do one of three things: play one card from your hand,

take one card from The Deck or

pass your turn.

When you play a card, it must match the number or type of sushi shown on the top of The Deck (this is called the "establishment"). For example, if there are two fish icons on top of The Deck, then any fish card can be played. If you cannot play a card, then you must take a card from The Deck. After playing or taking a card, replenish your hand back to eight cards. If you ever have fewer than eight cards in your hand, then take as many cards from The Deck as necessary to bring your hand up to eight cards.

If you ever have no more cards in your hand and there are not enough cards left in The Deck to give you one, then you are out of the game. Play passes to the next player who now becomes active. The last player in the game is automatically declared the loser.

Starting with the player who played last and proceeding clockwise around the table, each player now has an opportunity to either score one point or trade two points with any other player still in the game (including themselves). To score one point, simply put one finger into Showdown (the area in front of you that will eventually hold all your points). To trade two points with another player, put both fingers into Showdown. Remember: players always score points going clockwise around the table! When all players have either scored or traded points, final scoring occurs: Add up all fingers in Showdown: this is each player's current point total

The next person in turn order becomes active (usually this will be whoever has just scored or traded points) and play continues until someone has collected seven sets and wins!
